• What’s the point in this plugin if I can’t import complex tables? Whenever cells contain commas, dashes, dollar signs or quotation marks, the import is not possible.

    Hi tankard,

thanks for posting here! I’m really, really sorry to hear that you are having problems with the import in TablePress, but I can assure you that I’m here to help! ??

To allow me to find out more about those problems, could you maybe tell me more about that table? How did you create it and in which formats did you try to import it into TablePress? Was it maybe an Excel (.xlsx or .xls) table? In that case, as the Excel import is still experimental and indeed has some problems with different data formats, can you maybe try again after saving the table to a CSV file in Excel? That should work much better and import those different characters without issues.
If that’s not it, can you maybe upload the file somewhere or send it to me via email?

Again, I’d very much like to solve this problem together with you, to turn your TablePress experience into a positive one!

    Regards,
    Tobias

    Thanks, Tobias,
I’ve looked at other features and changed the rating. It’s a good plugin. Shame I’ll have to type in a huge table.

I’ve tried importing csv and html manually or as file. It only works when I delete the columns that contain commas and dollars.

I can’t send you the file.

Got more than 30 other plugins and can’t deactivate them to find the cause because I receive too much traffic and people will notice.

    Hi,

thanks for your quick reply. Good to hear that you like the other features!

If you can not send me the actual file (it contains confidential data, I guess?), can you maybe create a smaller/shortened test file that is not working for you? I’m asking because I can’t yet reproduce this on my dev sites.
Also, what are you seeing instead of the expected commas/dollar signs? Are you getting error messages or just those characters missing or is the entire table somehow “wrong”?

Deactivating your other plugins should not be necessary here, as the import of files is not really influenced by other plugins.

    Regards,
    Tobias
