No Templates option in Page Attributes?

  • I’m trying to build an Archives page, using the existing archives.php file. This would seem to be something quite basic to all WordPress themes. However, the option to use the archive.php template (or any template) in a new page does not appear to be available in the Page Attributes box, where it usually can be found. Any help would be appreciated!

    Did you sort out the problem? I have nothing in my page attributes box, also trying to set up an archive page.
