• I tested this out today and while I can see some value, I am frustrated that this isn’t a plugin or an option that I can turn on and off.

Also, I specifically tell my clients that WordPress is EASIER for me to edit fix when they break things because it doesn’t use the block method like other sites do. And my clients are not comfortable with IT, and are not going to find it easy to adjust to this mandatory change. While I appreciate that they’re going to pay me to help them use Gutenberg or install the classic editor, I know THEY won’t appreciate it.

I can think of things I have wanted WordPress to do and this editor isn’t any of them.

Thanks for taking the time to test. One thing you can do is control what a client can or can’t do. Right now this would be at the code level, there are also some plugin options. That said, I could see if demand is there something in the future for this coming into the experience itself through user settings.

You say there are things you wanted WordPress to do, what are they?

I know what you mean specifically about controlling what clients can do, but I actually laughed out loud because in general, that isn’t the case. ??

Personally, I would like to see things like Google’s rich snippets and the Facebook open graph tags built in. Sitemaps too.
