No traffic collected after update

Hi @wicko, thanks for opening a support topic. I have reviewed your site source code and it doesn’t look like Site Kit is placing any Analytics code on your site. Have you connected the Analytics module in Site Kit successfully?

The only tag I see when checking your site in the Google Tag Assistant is a Tag Manager tag. Do you have Analytics configured within your GTM container?

I’d be happy too check everything further if you’d be happy to share the following:

1. Your?Site Health information. You can?use this form?to share privately if preferred.
2. Are you looking for Site Kit to place your Analytics code on your site?

Yes Site Kit is showing connected successfully. It is connected to the correct ID.

I can see <!– Google Analytics opt-out snippet added by Site Kit –> that is added to my site. Not sure why the main tag is not displaying. Site Kit shows everything is connected

@wicko It’s possible that another active plugin or theme on your site is blocking or stripping out the Site Kit placed Analytics code. You can check this by temporarily disabling all plugins on your site leaving Site Kit active and checking your source code once more. You can also try temporarily switching theme to a default WordPress theme and checking the source code for the Site Kit placed Analytics code.

I can also run some checks from my side if you are willing to share the site health information requested above.

I have a staging site for this https://www.staging6.visiongain.com/
This has the same tracking setup. But this is not being tracked either.
I have manually added the tag to the site theme and now showing. This was originally managed via Site Kit

@wicko If you choose to manually place your Analytics code then you won’t need Site Kit to place this for you. Site Kit will see that an Analytics tag is being placed on your site and won’t place any duplicate code. You can check this from your Analytics module settings at Site Kit > Settings > Connected Modules > Analytics > Edit.

As mentioned previously, if you could share the site health information then I can take a closer look at this for you to see if I can spot anything that could be causing any conflicts on your site.

@wicko I can see that you have many active plugins on your website which means a likely cause of any Site Kit code being blocked for you previously was due to a conflict. One particular type of plugin we see this happen with are speed and optimization plugins, specifically with their minification settings.

I can see that you have the Speed Optimizer plugin active on your site. Could you check and let me know if you are using CSS or JavaScript minification on your site? You can check this by going to Speed Optimizer > Frontend > CSS/JavaScript.

If you are using these and you wish to have Site Kit place your Analytics code rather than manually place it, try switching these minification settings off and checking your source code once again. Make sure to select for Site Kit to place your Analytics code.

If you can then see the Site Kit placed code but you still want to use the minification settings, you can do this and set an exclude rule for Site Kit which I can share with you.

Both Front End Minification is turned off for CSS and JS. Also no combination.
Only front end setting is Minify the HTML Output

@wicko If you try temporarily disabling the Speed Optimizer plugin, do you see the Site Kit placed Analytics code? If you still don’t then it’s possible another plugin may be blocking this. If possible, are you able to check with just Site Kit active on your site? This will rule out any conflicts or help you to find a conflict if there is one blocking Site Kit placed code.

I have disabled the speed optimiser and it did not make any difference.

Even when I add the tracking code manually and Analytics says it is connected it still does not collect the visits.

Wondering it this is a separate issue with Consent Cookies perhaps.

@wicko It’s possible that you may not have set up consent mode on your site with Site Kit and configured everything needed for users to give consent on your site. Please take a look at our consent mode guide here and follow the steps.

Let me know once done if you are still having issues with traffic data being collected.

Consent Mode was not active so shouldn’t have effected this.

I have now made active and installed the WP Consent API. Cookie Consent Banner is active but don’t see where or if this is blocking the analytics. Shouldn’t block traffic but just user details anyway

@wicko When checking your site on the Google Tag Assistant I can now see your Analytics tag firing. However, when checking the tag, I can see that the consent values are set to “denied”. This shows that permission is not being granted when I visit your site. This will result in visits from European Economic Area (EEA), Switzerland and the United Kingdom not being tracked as per the the?Digital Markets Act (DMA)?act regarding user consent.

I can see that the cookie notice you’re using currently doesn’t allow users to grant their permission. We have a section in our consent mode guide about compatible consent management plugins you can use with Site Kit and consent mode.

I’d be happy to test this on your site if you install and configure one of the recommended consent management plugins. Let me know if you have any questions on the above.
