• No Trouble Shooting option in Tools/Site Health ??
    WP version 5.2.2
Just discovered the plugin Health Check & Troubleshooting that seems to replace the option that should be in Site Health

A security drop-down informs me that I should have a default theme. I only have one theme installed which I assumed is my default theme. The plugin informs me:

Troubleshooting allows you to have a vanilla WordPress session, where all plugins are disabled, and a default theme is used,

Question is: Will my current theme be used as a default theme or should I install another theme that would not be active ?

You need to install one of the twenty* themes as a backup theme. It’s only there for the troubleshooting, so twentynineteen would be fine.

    Thanks

The default theme should be a ‘Twenty’ series theme like Twenty Nineteen. If you disable your theme then WordPress will try to use that theme.

Twenty Nineteen behaves well with the Block Editor also which makes it a good standby theme.

You don’t need a default theme but that renders that part of the troubleshooting mode broken.

Twenty Thirteen is usually my default theme as I started out on that one.

Whatever you chose, enable it for a few minutes and play around with it then disable it in preference for your preferred theme. WordPress will then know it’s there and should default to it when you go to troubleshooting.

As logged in ‘admin’ you’ll be able to use that troubleshooter section without affecting your visitor’s experience. They’ll still see the site as normal.
