Either I missed it in the new layout, or there’s no longer a way to unblock a specific IP address. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

That was a useful feature – I keep my client’s sites under pretty tight security, including “immediately block non-existent user”. Invariably someone forgets their login or fumble-fingers their user name.

It seems counter productive to have to wipe out ALL the blocked IPs when you really only have to clean up one.

  • Hi @billc108,

On the “Live Traffic” page each entry can be expanded (by clicking on the icon in the “View” column); the “Unblock IP” button will be displayed in the “Activity Detail” block.

This can also be done from the “Firewall –> Blocking” page, by selecting a given IP (click the corresponding circled checkmark) and then clicking the top “Unblock” button.

I see a “Block IP” button when I expand on Live Traffic. I don’t see an “Unblock IP”, though the site owner’s IP is marked with a big red X.

There are no entries listed in “Blocking”. I have the ability to block an IP from that page, but nowhere to unblock.

What I’m looking for is what used to be “Blocked from login”, which had an Unblock link.

As long as I’m asking, where’s the whitelist entry these days? I’m obviously going to need to whitelist more if it’s not easy to unblock knuckleheaded site owners who can’t remember their own user names.

    Hi @billc108,

I see a “Block IP” button when I expand on Live Traffic. I don’t see an “Unblock IP”, though the site owner’s IP is marked with a big red X.

That’s most likely because the time specified for the “How long is an IP address blocked when it breaks a rule” parameter has elapsed and the IP address has automatically been unblocked by the time you check.

Ok. Makes sense. The site I’m currently dealing with had a 2-hr block, which had expired by the time I looked.

However the Live Traffic section doesn’t give an indication that it’s no longer blocked. Maybe a half-red dot to indicate that it WAS blocked but now is cleared? Or a little more detail, such as

    Blocked: 1/26/2018 9:07:00 PM
    Block Expired: 1/26/2018 11:07:00 PM

I set the lock-out time to different lengths for different clients and typically won’t remember how long for any one client.

I’m having this same trouble, the client forgot their password and exceeded the 5 tries and is blocked for an hour, however it hasn’t been an hour and they aren’t showing up in the blocked section, only the Live Traffic listing, so I can’t unblock them.

Same here. I must admit that this is really frustrating, as this used to be a super simple thing to remedy.

    @darthdocgmailcom, @onyudo,

I’m not sure you’re having the exact same issue as the user who created this topic.

Could each of you please start a new topic so we can further assist you?

    Thanks

I’m having this problem, too, and the suggested resolution doesn’t work. I cannot find any interface for unblocking an IP address for a known user who forgot his ID and now his IP address is blocked. Where is the command to unblock an IP address?

Same here. This is a total headache. I loved the old Wordfence. The new one has so many things hidden all over the place, makes it difficult to navigate effectively.

Has anyone found a resolution to this?

Have an IP that I simply can’t unblock, and can’t find the block list (unlike older versions of WF in the past).

Eventually I learned where everything is.

The way I do it now is to go to WordFence=>All Options, click the Expand All button, and then go through the settings.

Under “View Customization” you’ll find the Display “Blocking” menu item. Turn that on.

Now when someone’s blocked you can go to WordFence => Blocking and see everyone who is currently blocked (most recent at the top), check the appropriate box, and click the Unblock button.

This list ONLY shows those who are currently blocked. If the block has already timed out, it no longer shows in the list.

Thank you. Yep took me to the place I thought it would.
Actually had a weird scenario where someone was blocked but their IP wasn’t showing up in the Block list at all. Seems to be resolved now and we’re not sure why. Will wait till the next time it occurs and investigate further.
