• I know “Press This” was removed from the WordPress Core, becoming a plugin instead, as of WordPress 4.9.
That plugin hasn’t been updated in 3 years, and questions no longer get replies.
A bar at the top of the plugin page warns: “This plugin hasn’t been tested with the latest 3 major releases of WordPress. It may no longer be maintained or supported and may have compatibility issues when used with more recent versions of WordPress.”

I look and I look and all I find is obsolete info, much of it presented as if it’s timeless (no date). (For example, wordpress.com/support/press-this/. How is that allowed to keep saying obsolete info?)

I looked in the Chrome Webstore for extensions similar to Press This. No luck.

If not only the core / bookmarklet Press This is deprecated, but also the plugin is abandoned, what should we use?

I want it to clip the entire article, for me to then edit. I don’t want just a link. I don’t want to steal someone else’s content. I want half-way between, where I can select multiple excerpts (of my own choosing, not just an automated first # of letters) and add my own comments before posting. Hopefully it will automatically link to the source article. If not, I will manually add it. My re-post will help the original author get more views.

I’d try to install the Press This plugin in my WordPress and then copy the bookmarklet to your browser.

If it then doesn’t work, this article might help you figure out and fix whatever is keeping Press This from working for you…

    Thanks @jnashhawkins ,
For you, does it copy more than the first few lines from the article you’re re-posting / sharing / excerpting?

My Press This bookmarklet copied everything I highlighted which usually was the first 10 lines or less unless I needed to edit out a bunch of content… In those cases I allowed a bit more then edited for clarity and brevity!
