    Hi everybody,

since about one month I cannot upload my backups to Dropbox anymore.

    – I re-authenticated my Dropbox storage.
    – And I wiped out settings in the ‘Advance Tools’ tab and set UpdraftPlus
and Dropbox remote storage up again.

    No result.

    Any further ideas??!

Do I have to uninstall and re-install UpdraftPlus then??

    Regards
    Mateo

    Hi Mateo,

Please could you send us a copy of the latest full backup log?
This can be found in the UpdraftPlus Existing Backups tab.
The contents will be too long to post here directly, but you can use an online service such as Dropbox or Pastebin, and post the link here.

    Hi Mateo,

    Thank you!

The backup appears to have timed out.

Could you try to reduce the backup archive split size. This will split the backup into smaller, more manageable files.

To do this, open the ‘expert settings’ section of the UpdraftPlus Settings tab, and find the ‘split backups every’ option. Set this to 100mb or 50mb, save your settings and run a new process.

If the issue persists, please ask your hosts/server admin to investigate their PHP error logs. These logs should contain more information on the exact issue that is causing the backup process to halt.

    Kind Regards,
    Bryle`

    Hi Bryle,

    thank you for your hints.

I tried the changes but with Dropbox it does not work. I may upload the backup files from server to Dropbox manually but I think this is not what makes really sense.

Furthermore, Dropbox’ upload “speed” ?? is really very very poor.

So I tested with Google Drive and as far as I can assess it works properly.

All of a sudden there seem to be unidentifiable problems for me with Dropbox, thus I have to switch from Dropbox to Google.

Any ideas what actually is the problem with Dropbox?

Obviously, there is an issue linking UpdraftPlus with Dropbox for UpdraftPlus is working with Google Drive; and Dropbox on its own is working as well but not in connection with UpdraftPlus.

    Hi,
I’ve been having the same problem for a few days now. All of a sudden I am asked to re-authenticate Dropbox every single day, and it’s not even a full backup, just the database, so it’s only about 26 MB. It has been working fine for years, the size hasn’t changed much during this time, I don’t understand what has changed all of a sudden.
    Thanks for your help,
    Jenny

I just did the authentication again and there’s a small error message, which I don’t really understand:

Dropbox Fehler: Error in call to API function “users/get_current_account”: Must provide HTTP header “Authorization” or URL parameter “authorization”. (400)

    does this help?

    Hi,
have you been able to figure out what is causing this error? Looking at the topics in this forum it seems that a lot of people are having the same problem.

    Hi Jenny,

I have no idea why UpdraftPlus does not work any more with Dropbox.
Yesterday I tried again and it failed once more.
For I am not a paying client I will get no written support by Dropbox.

Obviously, UpdraftPlus is not interested in the problem and how to solve it.

(A workaround would be to copy the backup files manually from the server folder into Dropbox – but that is no satisfying solution to me.)

Just now I did a backup to Google Drive and (apparently) it finished successfully.

Thus, I have to do my backups in future with Google Drive.

    Hi Both,

There appears to be two different issues in this thread.

@mateumanacor after you done what bryle suggests could you take another backup and send the log here so we can see if anything has changed.

@miss-newyork yours is a different issue, it may be related to a expired access token issue that we are aware of and should have a fix out shortly.

You could open your own support request and provide the log file there to make sure it is the same issue that I think it is.

    Hi Ashley,

    I tried Bryle’s suggests.
Please find below a link to the backup log:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/opscymj32udg8ia/log.7efbd64f2de5.txt?dl=0

I had to stop the upload effort to Dropbox because it did not work at all.

    Hi Mateu,

So in your first log it appears that the backup just stops (times out) as Bryle said above.

In the second log file it doesn’t appear that you are authenticated with Dropbox anymore, it fails to find your refresh token.

Can you make sure your on the latest version of UpdraftPlus 1.16.50 as this includes some fixes to the Dropbox auth.

Then can you authorise your Dropbox account again, look out for any errors and if you do get some report back here.

If you get the Dropbox success message then run a backup and send it to remote storage, if theres problems then again send the log here so I can take a look for you.

    Best Wishes,

    Ashley

    Hi Ashley,

I again reconnected with Dropbox like before – nothing changed.

Please find the new backup log:

Still no solution – besides Goggle Drive…

    Hi Ashley,

still no idea what’s wrong with Dropbox all of a sudden?

    Hi Mateu,

    Sorry about the delay.

So the newest log looks like the first one again.

The backup appears to timeout during the upload without making any progress.

You said Google Drive is working and that Dropbox was slow before?

So could you check with your hosts if there is any connection issues between your webserver and Dropbox?

Could you also ask them to check the PHP Error logs for any errors during the upload of the backup?

    Best Wishes,

    Ashley
