I would post this on SiteOrigins forums but their forum software refuses to let me register.

My understanding is that Site Builder is supposed to allow for the use of visual editing, either using the native WP editor or using TinyMCE. But we’ve got nothing but a basic text editor showing. We need a visual editor for most of the users. Some comments I’ve seen regarding similar issues seem to suggest that the problem exists with commercial themes, but we are using a free theme called Sparkling (by Colorlib) which can be found here on the WP.org site, not a commercial theme.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. But please do not suggest contacting SiteOrigins. They seem to have no means of contacting them save their support forums, which is not allowing me to register.

(SiteOrigins people, if you are out there reading this, please allow for some alternate method of contacting you. How does one contact you to tell you that they can’t register for your support forums when the only way to contact you is via the support forums? Talk about a Catch-22…)

    Hi LDMartin1959

We do also monitor these forums. What seems to be the problem with registration? I can see that several users have registered today, but I’ll look into what was causing your issue. Were you perhaps just not getting the registration email?

The solution you’re looking for is Black Studio TinyMCE. It’s a plugin that adds a Visual Editor widget. It’s a popular plugin, and they have worked hard to ensure it works well with Page Builder.

The registration problem seems to be something called “WangGuard”. For some reason they have me listed as a “splogger” (not really even clear on what that is) and they have not responded to my inquiries about why they put me on their list or how I get off. Curious, since I am definatly NOT a spammer of any sort (I do occasionally tell people to go get bent, so perhaps someone is just using it as an “enemies list”).

Anyway, I do have the Black Studio TinyMCE installed. Still nothing. And although it seems silly to do, I have also added it as a widget to the site sidebar to test if that does some sort of magic with PB. Nothing. Obviously I am missing something here but I don’t know what.

    Additional thoughts?

As a side note, I am working on another site which uses your Vantage theme. No luck there, either.

    Hi LDMartin1959

    Apologies for the hassle.

To confirm, it’s not possible to use the Visual or Text tabs on Page Builder content and vice versa. Page Builder content can only be edited from within Page Builder. Once installed, the Black Studio TinyMCE plugin adds a widget called Visual Editor. This basically offers the regular WordPress Visual Editor in the form of a widget. To insert this widget just hit + from within Page Builder and search for Visual Editor and add it.

Assuming you’re up to speed with everything I’ve described above, then please explain further. What happens when you add Visual Editor widget to your sidebar or to Page Builder?

(Adding the Visual Editor to the sidebar or any widget area is it’s most common use. That use case is completely independent from Page Builder).

    Thanks.

Okay, I got it. The error was that I was looking for the PB widget to be called Black Studio TinyMCE> I had seen reference to it showing as “Visual Editor” but misunderstood that to mean it showed as that in the Plug-in section and missed that it was showing up as that in the PB widget list. But your note helped clarify that detail for me. Thank you.

Super, glad that helped. It’s a confusing little step for sure.

    All the best.
