It seems odd that we can create new sidebars, but not remove them. Is there a way to remove sidebars?

Also, it seems like there is very little activity on this support forum and very few updates. Is this plugin in active development?

  • Managing sidebars is a theme issue, unrelated to RP.

As for the current state of RP, see my post here: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/rootspersona-support-forum/-HN-jzRcAiA

To delete a sidebar, you just need to remove it from any page that it has been assigned to. When viewing the list of pages in the admin panel (Pages → All Pages), you should see a column with the assigned sidebar — you can click the sidebar name to edit it or choose which pages it has been assigned to.

    Ah, Brady, perfect!

It might be nice to mention that more clearly in the readme or include a screenshot of that manage sidebar page.

    Thanks for this great plugin.

Hi Brady, what about sidebars for custom post types? How do we delete or edit those. I’m able to create CPT sidebars but i’m unable to update and or delete as there is no column that shows assigned sidebars for that CPT.

@schnauzer42 Since this was primarily built for pages, I don’t believe the column gets registered for CPTs if you add support for them. To delete a sidebar, you would need to set each CPT using it to use the default sidebar instead.

I love this plugin! However, I am new to WP and the world of plugins and I created some pages for my website and a sidebar; then, I was able to combine some pages and that specifically created sidebar is no longer needed. Thus, for clean up purposes and my sanity only – I want to delete the unneeded sidebar because as an example: one is named sidebar for referrals; then one is named sidebar for resources; then one is named (and it’s the one I am using) sidebar for referrals and resources page. When I go to appearance, widgets I see all these unused sidebars still listed along with all the ones I am using. I just want to delete them – is there a way for me to do this?
