No widgets on posts page or categories

    On the widgets page I have dragged widgets into the primary and secondary widget areas and they appear on all pages except the posts page and on category pages.

    I have tried to temporarily reset the posts page to another and the problem moves to that page.

    I have tried to temporarily reset the theme to 2010 and the problems disappear.

    I’ve tried two conditional widget controllers (i.e. forcing widgets to appear on certain pages only) but they face the same problem.

    Is there a setting somewhere that I’ve overlooked or is there another explanation?

  • It sounds like your theme does not have widget-ready areas on the main posts or category pages. You would need to edit your theme’s template files (index.php & category.php or sidebar.php) to correct this.

    I have twenty ten with a child. i have the exact same issue. side bar widgets not displaying on my posts page. If I make it a normal page widgets show up.

    I tested it in a stock twenty ten(no child) and it was the same. I have made no changes to anything but the child theme.

    Any suggestions?

    My issue turns out to be an incompatibility between two plugins which I really like.
    Simple Page Sidebars and the All In One Event Calendar
