Doesn’t support or handle WooCommerce stock errors on the frontend at all with the default AJAX add to cart. Support and devs won’t acknowledge this issue even though it’s been reported many times for years.

I’ve been a WordPress / WooCommerce developer for over 15 years and looking at their code in woo-ajax-add-to-cart.js it’s clear as day that stock errors are not handled in any way, and the AJAX request is not even sending to the correct URL.

I would stay away from this theme if this is the kind of attention the developers pay to their code, even when being told it’s not working over and over again.

  • Hi @slightlyfaulty,

Forgive me, but I believe you’re in the wrong place for 4 important reasons:
    1. Though I do not underestimate anyone’s knowledge and skills, you simply can’t be a Woo developer longer than WooCommerce actually exists.

    2. You have not been using OceanWP, that much is clear.

    3. Not sure what you mean by “support and devs won’t acknowledge this issue though it’s been reported many times for years”. I have been with OceanWP for 5 years straight. There isn’t a single forum topic (your profile is public, you are aware of that?), GitHub issue, Facebook page message, Facebook group post, neither ticket mentioning anything remotely similar – so I do not know with whom you have been in touch with, but it sure wasn’t our support or devs.

Now, if you have something real to report about OceanWP with exact steps to reproduce, you can use this link for real this time: https://github.com/oceanwp/oceanwp/issues

    4. Per forum rules, fake reviews (whatever the reason behind it, even to advertise your “Woo dev skills” or advocate for a different product), are not allowed.

You’re right, I’m not a user of OceanWP, fortunately. But I am a plugin developer who’s users have been running into this issue on your theme. Because as I and many other people have mentioned over YEARS, you have zero support for simple WooCommerce product stock error notices with your AJAX add to cart which is enabled by default.

Since you’re so attentive you’ve surely seen these threads. Not that you should need to since you could look at the JS file I mentioned for 2 minutes and see no support is implemented.

Ignoring issues being reported from multiple users for years and then accusing bad reviews of being fake is peak delusional I must say.

    Hi @slightlyfaulty,

Well, it seems you’re then running multiple accounts and again misusing this thread for self-advertisement, which as forbidden per WordPress forum rules.

    Topics:
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/notices-after-ajax-add-to-cart/
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/notices-after-ajax-add-to-cart-2/

A little bit of reading goes a long way. These are NOT bugs. Users expect ajax to function the same way notifications function without ajax, but that’s impossible without the page load which defeats the purpose of ajax aka display a message a product has been added to cart just like it does without ajax. You will get the same behavior with default Woo archive ajax and the Storefront theme (or any other theme). So, these are personal customization requests, not bugs.

Though we may help with some things, personal customizations are not subject to our support services, especially in regards to third-party plugins.

https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/notification-while-trying-to-add-to-cart-more-than-stock/ this is now handled by WooCommerce itself, though these pages were not made using OceanWP and our ajax, but instead using a page builder.

    Hope this answers your questions.

As I said, you are free to reach out with for real this time using the GitHub link provided above.

This is a review, not a support thread, so I will no longer engage in this conversation.

Firstly I never claimed to be the creator of those threads. I honestly have no idea why you’re making these assumptions.

Secondly, are you joking? Default WooCommerce archive AJAX redirects to the product page to show the error notice when there is one. And the newer product archive block shows the error notice directly above the catalog list.

You’re making false claims just like the replies in those support threads, to avoid a few minutes of development. Rendering error notices and inserting them into the page is far from “impossible”. Even if you just redirected to the same product page to show the notice I’m sure your users would be fine with that.

I’m also done wasting my time trying to convince you to fix your own theme. My review remains as it’s a review of how you and your team has handled this issue over the years. By gaslighting your users, making false claims, and a general lack of pride in the product you’re shipping.

    1. A user left a review.
    2. A person related to this them replied.
    3. Hilarity ensued. The End.

I’m closing this review to new comments because it stopped being productive around these parts.

Per forum rules, fake reviews (whatever the reason behind it, even to advertise your “Woo dev skills” or advocate for a different product), are not allowed.

@wpfleek If your reply to a review is to attack people and call their feedback “fake reviews” then you may want to reconsider your 100% volunteer and unpaid work on these forums.

I am now closing this review.
