No word counts from posts

  • Hi Raamdev,

    I am facing this issue after removing the parent category. I have already removed posts from the parent category which were assigned before. Now I don’t see word counts, etc. on home page or single post.

    What went wrong, any idea?

    Hi Raamdev,

    I had this parent category called “Articles” and rest of the articles are as child. Due to content duplication, I wanted to remove additional categories-here in my case the parent category named as “articles”.
    This is what I did in steps.

    step 1
    Removed all posts that previously assigned with the parent category as “articles.”

    step 2
    Now, my Article category has no articles as they are already removed. As per wordpress, there should be a default category like “uncategorised,” so I assigned “blogging” as default. This is not a new category name, and most of my blogs are falling under this category.

    step 3
    I removed the empty parent category named “Articles”.

    step 4
    As per wordpress rules, I re-saved the permalink settings and did a clear all cache via W3 Total cache.

    step 5
    Now those comment counts, word counts, etc. are missing from each post.

    What happens if you disable W3 Total Cache?

    The code that counts the number of words in a post is pretty straightforward: https://github.com/raamdev/independent-publisher/blob/master/functions.php#L774-L786

    Ok i will try to disable w3 total cache and will let you know if this solves ??

    Hello!
    I have this issue in my italian blog {https://koolinus.net} …?

    On the same server I made a test installation and everything seemed ok. But not “on production” I don’t have the word count showed under each post.

    Can anyone help me? TIA

    “solved” … I was noticing that the word count happens only for standard posts, while an Image post with text, or an Aside or Status post, does not benefits of this feature.

    Maybe we have to point this out in the docs? I am planning to write something down and it would be cool to contribute in the Github’s wiki…
