Hi. I hope someone can help me. When I go to log into my blog, I keep getting this message:
There doesn’t seem to be a wp-config.php file. I need this before we can get started. Need more help? We got it. You can create a wp-config.php file through a web interface, but this doesn’t work for all server setups. The safest way is to manually create the file.
Create a Configuration File (So I click this)

Then when I click on create a configuration file, even though there is already one uploaded, I get this message:

The file ‘wp-config.php’ already exists. If you need to reset any of the configuration items in this file, please delete it first. You may try installing now.
I’ve tried reuploading the wp-config.php file but I keep going around in circles.

Does anyone know what this is?

  • New installation? If so, I’d just delete the wordpress files, and reupload them, then DROP the database tables.

    Essentially start over.

Yes, new installation. What do you mean by Drop the database tables?

(you dont have any database tables, since wp never got installed)

You, I presume, have a database, and thats all.

Word press is installed, it’s just saying it can’t find the wp-config.php file. And then when I go to install it it says it’s already there.

how do you know its installed if its telling you there isnt a wp-config.php? Do you see tables inside the database?

Im not being argumentative, but unless you’ve seen the tables inside the database, that statement doesn’t make sense.

    Installed is different than uploaded.

Thanks for your help. I deleted the database and created a new one. It installed with no problem.
