I have used updraft without any problems one week before. Dropbox authentification worked an the backups are in the updraft folder in dropbox.

After deleting the app-folder in dropbox an reinstalling updraft in wp there isnt any chance to connect with dropbox. I always get “authentification failed” or in german “Verknüpfungsanforderung ungültig”.

    any ideas?
    (sorry for my bad english)

Hi, is that message the complete error, or is there anything else displayed?

Yes, thats the only error. It ist only shown in the dropbox window.

I have tryed to completely reinstall updraft with deleting all settings and deleting the two folders updraft und upgrade (also created by your plugin, isn’t it?)

    Nothing helps

Please can you link a screenshot of that?

In Dropbox, did you delete Apps/UpdraftPlus, or Apps?

    Hi
I delete both. Apps and updraft. I will send you a screenshot tomorrow, but there isn’t any further information.
Can you please tell me, if the upgrade folder is a folder of your plugin? Thanks

    Hi David,
sorry I don’t have a screenshot, but if I click on the authentification link in your plugin, the Drobbox window opens and shows only the error “Verknüpfungsanforderung ungültig” for a few seconds in a small red box.

    Hi,

The problem is that you’ve deleted your “Apps” folder from Dropbox, which is an essential part of Dropbox. No application (like UD) will be able to send data to Dropbox, until you’ve repaired this.

    This might help: https://www.dropbox.com/help/400

    Or this: https://www.dropbox.com/help/9132

This was not the Problem. I have restored the apps folder but the error persists.

By the way: there wasn’t a app folder before. I think that updraft is creating the folder. no?

I have two logfiles – the logfile from failed backup an the logfile found in the updraft folder on ftp. If it helps, I can send it per mail

Could you test authentication with a different Dropbox account? Is UpdraftPlus able to authenticate?

    Thread Starter hydro22

    (@hydro22)

No, because if I click the Dropbox authentification link in the settings caption of your plugin I’m automatically signed in in Dropbox. I have seen the normally sign in window of Dropbox only at the first time I used the plugin. It seems that your plugin stores the password. Only you know where it is stored.
Can I completely uninstall the plugin including all folders in ftp and especially all keys in the database to try a really new install of the plugin? Maybe it’s a way to refloat it (I don’t know it’s the right word?) I would try a complete new reinstall because it worked the first time. But I need your help.

What must be deleted? Only the updraft an upgrade folder in wp-content via ftp or is there anything further?
Which keys in the database can I delete?

    Hi,

The Dropbox login is remembered by your web browser, not UD…. to log out of Dropbox, just 1) Visit https://www.dropbox.com 2) Use the ‘sign out’ function in the top right.

The problem is that the ‘Apps’ folder is an essential part of Dropbox (despite the fact that it doesn’t show in all synchronisations until you actually have a live app using it). Deleting it breaks all apps that want to use your Dropbox. If the previous steps to get it back haven’t worked, you’ll want to either use a different account, or ask Dropbox for advice. (Just creating another folder called “Apps” is unlikely to fix it – it has to be known by Dropbox to be specially designated, and I’m not sure how that’s done – but Dropbox support will know).

    David
