Node_modules and publishing a theme live

Good day everyone,

I made my first theme using tailpress which uses node.js. I want to publish my theme for testing on a live server. I know about the command ‘npm run dev” but can someone tell me what the correct procedure is to publish a node.js based WordPress theme?

For example: do I need to include the node_modules directory or the resources js and css folders?
