noindex detected from Google

Happening on my end as well, as of January 26th. But Google Search Console seems to be complaining about the sitemap.html file, NOT the sitemap.xml file.

Did you enter the correct URL for your sitemap in google? The ***/sitemap.xml-URL?

UPDATE

Log into your WordPress Dashboard, and you should see the XML Sitemaps settings. Scroll down and UNCHECK the checkbox that says (Also index HTML sitemap, or something similar) and save the changes.

The next time Google re-crawls your site, the problem should be solved.

@zeeshanid Thanks for the tip. But this is not a real solution, just a workaround. There is still no update of the plugin that actually fixes the error.
It is possible that this update will not come, because the new WP versions create a sitemap themselves.
