  • Hi @dosimo, hope you are doing well and good! ?? Your noindex for archives seems to work, view-source:https://sichling.de/2017 but I guess you want to noindex the whole page 2 and so forth… Can I ask why? Also what steps you did in your effort to disable pagination? You shouldn’t really noindex paginated home, I can only see how this would hurt your SEO. Thanks for clarification!

    Hi @dosimo,

The home page has a separated option for this in the SEO Settings page.
You can find it under the “Robots” tab in the “Home Page Settings” meta box.

    Cheers ??

    oh, thanks. my fault.

So to solve that I need to check the “Apply noindex to every second or later page on the Home Page” option?

    Thanks!

    Hi @vbletieri,

    Yes.

One option is for all archives but the home page.
And the other is for only the home page.

    Cheers ??

I have it set to no index paginated pages and they’re still indexed. It’s been set to noindex from the beginning. I’m not talking about the home page setting (because I don’t have a blog on the home page). I’m talking about site-wide.

    Hi @cytkevin,

It can take months before the paginated archives are trimmed from the search engine’s index.

Look for the “robots” meta tag in the paginated page’s source to verify whether there’s an issue.

If you believe there’s a bug, please open a new topic and disclose the link to the page you need help with.

Your noindex for subsequent archive pages are not working.

    You have the option:
Apply noindex to every second or later archive page? Checked
but all subpages of archives are still indexed by Big G

Besides this you plugin is really good.

    Thanks

    Hi @jamiesc,

My previous reply applies to you, too:

    1. The setting can take months to become effective.
    2. Check the metadata. And, if you believe there’s a bug, open a new topic and share the link of the page you need help with.

    Thanks!

Months means forget about it. Your plugin hurt my site because of duplicate content. Very bad plugin.

    Hi @jamiesc,

It has nothing to do with the plugin. Although the setting takes effect directly on your site when applied, Google won’t see it until it crawls your archive pages again.

Google needs to crawl trillions of other pages, and they sort this by high to low-quality content–based on the number of backlinks. Archives generally form low-quality content, which is why it can take months.

If you wish for Google to see the exclusion-tags sooner, you can ask them to recrawl your pages:

Please keep in mind that pages rank, sites don’t. Having good pages on your site will help other pages on your site, but the few bad pages won’t bring other pages down.

Please do not jump into other topics. If the troubleshooting already posted made no difference for you, then, as per the Forum Welcome, please post your own topic. A lot more people will see your post this way. That way you stand a good chance of getting the assistance you want. Despite any similarity in symptoms, your issue is likely to be completely different because of possible differences in physical servers, accounts, hosts, plugins, theme, configurations, etc. Thus one problem, on one setup is not indicative of the functionality and reliability of an application as a whole.
