Hello, after selecting “noindex” for my search page archives in the AIOSEO plugin in January, I am now discovering that Google Search console has been indexing search page archives since then but getting 5xx errors, I assume because my firewall is blocking them. My question is, why is Google saying that I am requesting my search page archives to be indexed when I have the “no index” option selected in the AIOSEO plugin? Is there a bug or something else I need to do to make sure these pages aren’t indexed? My robots.txt page doesn’t seem to show any instructions along these lines. Thank you for your help!

@heesea Google is only able to tell whether they should or shouldn’t index a page once they’ve been able to load it. If you noindex a post in AIOSEO, AIOSEO will output a noindex directive in the source code of that page. So, if Google isn’t able to load that page in the first place (and thus isn’t able to go through the source code), it doesn’t know yet that it shouldn’t noindex that page.

That makes sense. Thank you for the explanation!
