    Hi,

I am looking for an explanation. I would like to prevent media attachments to be indexed by Google.

So, If I click on “media / attachments” box under “default to noindex”. It means it will add noindex to media attachments. But I guess that robots can still index image files isn’t it?

    Am I correct?

For instance, if i ticked the noindex media / attachments.
    Will google index mydomain.com/wp-content/uploads/jojo.jpg ?

@bloup Media attachments are much different to media files such as JPEGs. You can block Google from indexing media attachments using the Noindex settings as you found. You would also want to remove them from your XML Sitemap.

To block Google indexing image files on your site, you’d follow their instructions here – https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/35308?hl=en. However, because images make up content on your site, it would typically be a bad idea to block search engines from these.
