• I have WP events manager installed on the site of my non profit.
We have an event category which posts need to be set to noindex. Its only posts of this certain category which should be set to noindex.

The site is protected by Paid Memberships pro, so you can only access it with a valid membership. Is that enough for it to be noindex?

The information on the events of this certain category is sensitive, so it needs to not be in google.

    Thank you!

    Hello @michellelau

Thanks for reaching out. When you set any content (posts, products, pages, events) to noindex, this means such content will not be indexed by search engines.

    Hello @michellelau

Since I am not familiar with your website, I have a hard time understanding the context of what you just described. Please provide us with screenshots highlighting what you want to achieve. You can use any image-sharing service like https://pasteboard.co/, https://snag.gy/, https://imgur.com/, https://snipboard.io/, or even upload the screenshot to your own website. Once you upload it to an image-sharing service, please share the link to the image here.

Hi. I will try to walk you throught this image wise.

I have made 2 main categories of events in Events Manager.

Offentlig (public). Every events which is placed in this category needs to be indexed.

    https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/7p1l4rioutlnnq4k98av6/Index.JPG?rlkey=c9e0eey1cgat9m5crexj5mhi8&st=ajkwydqb&dl=0

Booking af lokaler (reservations of rooms) needs to be private and not indexed. Its for members only. Ive only linked to this from password protected part of my site. This site holds sensitive content.

    https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/jxmuki158cj50emwiz9eh/No-index-category.JPG?rlkey=r86oaj2tfggtlu5ff5tjjj5nq&st=ogm3nfli&dl=0

I only have one possibility of indexing in the yoast SEO admin. This is the page for alle events, which isnt displayed on the website (ive deleted the links.) This category holds both the private and the public category.

When I open my Yoast SEO I only get the possibility to choose if I would like Arrangementer indexed. I do not get the possibility to choose if I want that arrangementer isnt indexed but Offentlig (public) is instead.

You can see here a picture from Yoast

I am missing a function where I can choose specifically which event categories should be indexed – and if the entries in that specific category should be indexed.

Admin is editing and submitting the public events in dashboard. All public events should have this SEO setting

    https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/5yopt5jdrbmmy3lwkpnj2/public-event.JPG?rlkey=sej0hd2mgw77vml10gw6t6ifb&st=w134fbct&dl=0

For private events (booking af lokaler) the registered users on the site selfsubmit these on the frontend webiste and they are approved immediately. But when I press one of them Yoast looks like this

    https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/cm133qwo49std3f3hr5g0/Private-event.JPGrlkey=4tn2jw5gyf52ubiantpez7y4g&st=jbjqdp5e&dl=0

Where Ive marked with blue I want every private event to say no – or nej in danish, so they are not indexed.

The only links to the private events are from pages protected by paid membership manager protection for not active members.

Due to the sensitive information, it would be a problem if yoast had the private events in their tree so that google will index them – also if people cannot access them. The page title and the text would be indexed as meta title and meta description and this would be a personal data breach.

Is it more clear now what I want to do?

    All the best

    Thanks for the walk-through, @michellelau.

Quick question: the two events with IDs 545 and 547 belong to two event categories (Offentlig?& booking af lokaler), right?

    yes thats right. ??

    Thank you!

First, turn on event categories here because turning that OFF affects all categories, either private or public event categories.

Where Ive marked with blue I want every private event to say no – or nej in danish, so they are not indexed.

This will set the specific event to noindexif you choose No. So, you will need to do this for each individual private event. Because private events don’t have a separate category, you cannot do it all at once.

Let me know if you have follow-up questions; I’m happy to answer.

The problem we need the members to be able to submit events to event manager without prior approval. So the event will show in the private part without approval. There is a chance they will be indexed if I set the standard yoast permission to index events – because I cannot edit this all the time. So it would be very nice if there were a function where you could say noindex for events which were hold in a certain category.
