I’ve got 38 pages marked “submitted URL marked noindex” (pretty much all product tag pages) and one page with crawl issue.
I have a memory of ages ago marking product tags as noindex when I was troubleshooting another search console issue. I’m not sure if I ever changed that setting back, but I now can’t find the same setting, the design seems to have changed. In the new place, product tags are marked as searchable by google in my Yoast settings. So I can’t understand why product tags are now appearing as noindex on the search console coverage page.
Here’s one of the links marked noindex in google search console:
    https://www.chalkandmoss.com/product-tag/grey/
Can I somehow get to another page to see if product tags are marked noindex?

“Submitted URL has crawl issue” applies to only this page: https://www.chalkandmoss.com/?taxonomy=product_shipping_class&term=libby-ward

I checked with the theme developer, who referred me to Woocommerce, who referred me to Yoast. As per Woo’s advice, today I disabled the Yoast plugin and asked Google to re-crawl my site, to see if that changes anything. Of course, I then have to figure out what next…

Can anyone advise please? Please note, I’m not very technical…

@asnowstorm We checked on several product tag pages and were not able to find any of them marked were not able to find a ‘noindex’ tag present in any of them, including the https://www.chalkandmoss.com/product-tag/grey/ page.

Can you please check what the value under SEO>Search Appearance>Taxonomies is set to for ‘Show Product tags in search results?’? Setting this to ‘No’ would set the product tag pages to ‘noindex’.

Is it your intention to have the product tag pages set to noindex?

If so, we would recommend setting that to ‘No’. The reason why you received that error is that the pages were included in your sitemap, which they should not be if set to noindex. After setting them, we would next recommend checking the sitemap to see if the product tag pages are present.

Hello, and thanks for your reply!
In SEO>Search Appearance>Taxonomies ‘Show Product tags in search results?’ is set to YES.
I do want product tags to be searchable by Google.
There’s no reason not to, right?
I checked my sitemap, and product tags pages are in there.
So where does this leave me, in terms of the error in search console?
    Thanks a million!

    Hi @asnowstorm,

Thank you for your reply and information.

We can confirm that your tag archive pages are indexable. We are not sure why Google Search Console is throwing the warning for the product tag archive pages while there is no noindex present on the page source. We would recommend reaching out to the Google Webmaster forums to see if they can help with this.
