Noindex tag added to sitemap

    My sitemap_index.xml file has a noindex tag added by Yoast (when I test this in Google Search Console). Please advise if this is normal?

    Hello Nabeel,

    Thanks for your question about your sitemap.

    Yes, this is totally normal. The Yoast SEO plugin automatically adds a noindex tag to the sitemap in the server response headers (the X-Robots-Tag). This is because we don’t want your sitemap to appear in the search results. However, the URLs in it will still be crawled and indexed by search engines without any issues.
