• I am doing a non-blog website. I notice after doing a “search” on my site that the date and author show under the search results. I do not want that. How can I delete those? Also a litte grey “comments off” appears there. I’d like to have that deleted too. I’m not sure where I remove that?!

Yes I have searched for this… and yes I have read “many” answers to this, but I’m very new to wordpress and the answers were confusing. I’m using 2010 Weaver. Teaching myself how to use this this summer. We all were new at this at one time, yes? I read where a person said search the theme files. Exactly what files are those? Is there an easy way to searc? Or do I strain my eyes searching through it all? And what exactly do I search for?

  • You would need to edit the search.php template file within your theme.

Thank you very much for your reply! Is there a line I must remove? Or just change? If change, to what? I’ve never edited a php file before, can you tell? ??

Drop a copy of the file into the WordPress pastebin and post the pastebin url here. Perhaps someone will be able to spot the problem and suggest a solution.
