Non blog site with buddypress?
-
I’m new to this site and also new to WordPress. I have never used it before, and have watched some tutorials but there are a few things I don’t understand. It seems like most themes are geared towards either just being a non social networking site or a social networking/blog site. I was going to ask a couple questions, but it would bee wise to explain what I am trying to do first.
I am starting a website dedicated to our local music scene, and I want a simple front page with links to different resources such as browsing venues that host live music, recording studios, and what not. If a person clicks to say “recording studios” they get a list off them and then when one is selected from the list, it shows a profile of the place with all relevant information. What template or theme or whatever can I use to do this without having to have club owners sign up for an account and profile their places, but not have to make an entire custom page for everyone who wants to be on it. I don’t think there is a solution to this problem, honestly. It’s one or the other, or so it seems.
I also want musicians and people to be able to log in, and make a profile for their musical act. I suppose this would be fine for business owners too however, but I would want them to look differently.
And lastly, can buddypress be used with any theme or template or are they basically geared towards blogging and social networking sites only? Our site is a little of both, but not too heavy on either side.
Thanks in advance.
Tom
