non-consecutive dates

Maybe I’m doing a poor job searching the forum, but is there no way to create an event that spans multiple dates that are not consecutive? For example, I know how to set an event that runs thursday to friday, but how can I make it run on both fridays (actually I need it to run wed-fri one week and thurs-fri the next).

Yes, I can create two different events, but they aren’t actually different events and shouldn’t be seen as such.
