    Hi,

I got a message that a file has been changed. I deleted this file in 2015. No traces of it on the server or database.

    What’s your theory about this?

    Hi

I could be a temporary file that was created by one of yours plugins or your theme when the scanning process was running and deleted a few seconds or minutes after.
What’s its name and full path?

It’s a plugin a created to mail 404’s to me, but it doesn’t exist any more for 3 years. There is no link from my theme or other plugins to this file.

Maybe it is still somewhere present in a backup that the web host has. Maybe they put it back temporarily and then remove it again?

You should probably ask your host.
Make sure to enable NinjaFirewall “File Guard” to see if someone’s accessing the file when it is created.

I’m going to see what’s possible. Usually they answer with: “We don’t change files”
