    Hi there,

    1. I’m trying to understand the cache. When Autoptimize says, Cache is 1%, does that mean 1 user loaded my website? Thus, the more traffic I get, the more the cache will grow? Or no, once I see the 1%, that’s as big as the cache will get (as long as I don’t add new pages to my website).

    2. Am I correct in thinking that the cache is only effective for page speed after the user loads the entire website one time? Thus, it won’t affect page speed the FIRST time they visit the website? Correct? They have to load it once, thus, when they return in the future, it will load faster?

    1. no; 1% means that the total size of the Autoptimized CSS/ JS in cache is 1% of 0.5GB. It is mainly meant as a way to keep you informed of a fast growing cache which requires reconfiguration.

    2. no; it should be effective for any user requesting an already optimized page ??

    1. Can you give me an example when the cache would grow past 1%?

    My website is purely a blog without any fancy features or heavy content pages. Is it safe to assume, it will never grow past 1%?

    no, it will likely go beyond 1% at some point, but that’s nothing to worry about ??

    Just for my own knowledge, when the cache increases because of the Autoptimized CSS/ JS, that means the website’s code (css/js) is getting cached only? Thus, the cache does not increase when we add new blog posts correct?

    Typically; correct as AO does not cache pages.

    I think I have one final question on this topic:

    Do user visits affect the cache at all? I understand only CSS/JS is being cached.

    But, if a user from California visits my blog, and a user from New York visits my blog, does the cache grow? (since each user loaded CSS/JS).

    Or no, the CSS/JS is cached one time and it’s used for everybody. Thus, if a million people visit my blog, the cache will not increase?

    assuming the user in California and the one in New York visit the same page, then the cache does not grow. If they visit a different page the cache *might* grow (depending on the fact if the CSS and JS are the same on those 2 pages or not). Same for a million of people ??
