Hi. So the Twenty-TwentyFour (or, however that goes). When you get to patterns -> DESIGN -> Patterns -> There’s the lower All patterns -> Footers 3. When I go into the Footers, I see 3 that are “Not synced” as well as having a little lock:

So they are “locked” icon/ “Not Synced”. It wasn’t that hard to copy/paste any of the 3 footer patterns, and SYNC it when adding it to the Footers, and be able to USE it. So why are they locked? What’s the purpose of “Not synced” patterns? Other than “can’t use them”…?

    Thanks y’all!

    Raph

Patterns defined by any theme are always locked because if anyone were to alter them, when the theme updates, the patterns would revert to their default state and any user changes would be lost. By copying and modifying the copy, you protect the modified pattern from being reverted during updates.

When a pattern is synced, any changes to one pattern affects all instances of that pattern anywhere on the site. Non-synced patterns exist as their own entity. Changing one only affects that one instance, not any others.
