Normal number of database queries?

  • Simple question, really. What is a normal amount of database queries for a WordPress blog? My front page makes 55 queries to the Db on each load. Is this normal or is there something going on that I need to cut out?

  • That depends on a whole lot. Plugins used and how they’re called – differing theme implementations – etc., etc.
    I have one site that does about 29 queries and another that pulled 74 when I checked.

    That helps a lot, thanks, samboll. I really just wanted some confirmation that 55 was in the “acceptable” range.
