I’ve tried a variety of personal pages and none of them works in context. But the example provided by Facebook in their tutorial ‘https://www.facebook.com/platform’ does work – it’s their own developers’ page.

So, still mystified and hoping for help ??

I think… and I could be wrong… that the widget is designed to work with a Facebook Page (like a business/organisation/celebrity publicity) rather than with a private individual.

Looking at https://www.facebook.com/script.yorkshire, it appears like an individual rather than a ‘page’, which is possibly why it throws up the error message.

You’ll see the difference where on https://www.facebook.com/platform you can ‘like’ the page, but on https://www.facebook.com/script.yorkshire you have the option to ‘add as friend’.

Like Box is for Facebook Pages. If you enter a URL value on the Like Box social plugin preview page and the URL does not render a Like Box then a WordPress plugin implementing the Like Box social plugin would be no different.

Facebook has separate profile badges which may be supported by other WordPress plugins.
