Hi – I’ve updated the plugin and updated my php to 8.1 running on WordPress 6.2 and I am getting a not a valid JSON response from my google webstories plugin. If I disable wordfence, the plug-in will work. Any thoughts of why wordfence is interfering?

Hi @samopp, thank you for reaching out.

With Google Webstories activated, please navigate to your Wordfence > Tools > Live Traffic page, and see whether you find any blocked requests, click on it to expand it, then click “Add Param to Allowlist”. If that doesn’t work, you can also try Learning Mode to resolve it.

If that doesn’t work,  Learning Mode might be helpful help.

From the Wordfence Dashboard click on Manage WAF. Then you will see Basic Firewall Options > Web Application Firewall Status. Change the option to Learning Mode. Now confirm that you can access Google Webstories without issues. This will help Wordfence learn that these actions are normal and it will allow them in the future. Once done, switch the WAF from Learning Mode back to Enabled and Protecting. Now test to see if you’re able to access Google Webstories without  JSON errors going forward.

Let me know in case the above doesn’t solve your issue.

    Thanks,

    Mark.

Hi – Neither worked. When my hosting tried they said this :

The problem is, they are not blocking the request, its throwing a 404, not a 401/403

The 404 is not being blocked or logged in WordFence – I whitelisted my IP, and the issue persists.

Any other ideas of why this is happening

Hi @samopp, Thank you for getting back to us.

It looks like the parameter keeps changing and that might be why the allowlist doesn’t work. Could you please try disabling the “Admin Panel” option for “Monitor background requests from an administrator’s web browser for false positives”:

    https://www.wordfence.com/help/firewall/options/#monitor-background-requests

    Let me know it goes.

    Thanks,

    Mark.
