Not able to download files from web space

  • Hello,

    I have installed WordPress on my web space (hosted by Strato) last weekend. I noticed that I am no longer able to download any zip files (or any files at all) which is a big problem. I have to admit that I am a beginner when it comes to web development.

    On my web space, there was a htaccess which I tried to update (I think it was an old one, because there was some Typo3 stuff in it). I deleted the file and tried to download a zip file again, but every time a 404 page of wordpress appears (the file link is 100% correct).

    Can I allow downloads for at least one directory? Let’s say I have a file admin directors or something like that and every file that is uploaded into this directory will be ignored by WordPress and can be downloaded using a web browser.
