    Hello there!

I hope you are doing well.

I have tried everything, ads, groups, placements, but the ad is not showing up. It may show only one out of ten times I visit my website.

The moment I am writing this, I have checked the manual placement and entered the shortcode taken from the usage instructions on a prefooter area I have set for my website to show the ads. But nothing is showing up. I have also tried after content, before content. But nothing there too. As I mentioned, only once in ten times approximately I was able to view them.

FYI, I am using Google Adsense as well, the auto ads implementation. Just mentioning this in case it plays any role.

I am trying to figure all of this out because I found your plugin interesting and would like to go premium soon enough. Please help.

Finally, on another topic. If possible, I would like to have your opinion on one thing. I am going to add some affiliate banners on my website as ads which will be clickable and lead to the affiliate vendor. This is not generated by JS code (so no cookies), just images with href attr to vendor’s site. Do you know if I need user’s consent to show such ads?

Right now, I have activated TCF v2.0 integration on my website which works great with Complianz plugin I use for my cookie banners. But, I saw this setting “Ignore general Privacy settings and display the ad even without consent.” when I was setting my ads, and I found it useful since my affiliate ads are not going to set any cookies on users’ side.

    Thanks in advance,

    George.

    Hi George,

Thanks for reaching out and reporting your problem. I checked your website and the issue seems to be related to the users’ consent. Even if I grant permission, the implemented Google ads keep empty and still wait for consent to load the ad content.

I guess that the problem here is between the settings of Advanced Ads and Complianz. Both plugins integrate fine with each other in general.

It looks like currently, Complianz saves a cookie for the permission of marketing-related consent, cmplz_marketing=allow. Without seeing your settings, I guess that Advanced Ads waits for TCF consent, but Complianz is configured to save the permission in a standard cookie. It should bring your ad content into the ads if you navigate to Advanced Ads > Settings > Privacy. Then, choose “Cookie” as the consent method and fill in the cookie name (cmplz_marketing) and its value (allow).

You will find further instructions on how to show ads based on cookie consent in this manual.

Do you know if I need user’s consent to show such ads?

You don’t require consent to show them if you don’t load data like the affiliate banners from external sources. I recommend saving such banners locally to follow this approach. Advanced Ads automatically ignores these privacy settings for ad units with the image ad type because those files must be saved locally. The setting “Ignore general Privacy settings and display the ad even without consent” is made for use cases like ad units with the Plain text and code ad type, that you use to create affiliate links. They do not contain external data, so I recommend activating the checkbox to let them ignore privacy settings.

    Best regards,

    Joachim

@schmidt25, thanks a million for your comprehensive response!

By using the “Cookie” as the Consent method as you suggested above, somehow fixed the issue. It’s not that I am seeing the ad every time I load the pages now, but for sure I can see them more often.

I will keep it this way for now.

Btw, is there an option to show something like a badge or sign “Ad” or “Advertisement” on the places we add ads with your plugin? So people know that it has to do with ads and not website related content. Finally, is there any feature that allows the user to close the ads? In the premium version?

    Thanks again!

    Best Regard,

    George.

    Hi George,

Great to hear that this fixed the issue.

?is there an option to show something like a badge or sign “Ad” or “Advertisement” on the places we add ads with your plugin?

Yes, Advanced Ads provides an ad label feature to embed such signs. See this manual for further information.

Finally, is there any feature that allows the user to close the ads? In the premium version?

If not coded manually and embedded via the Plain text and code ad type, only a few placements come with the Sticky Ads add-on and the Popup and Layer ads add-on with dedicated close button options.

    Best regards,

    Joachim

    Hello @schmidt25,

Thanks again for your quick response!

I have just purchased the Advanced Ads Pro — single!

I will now play around and send you any questions I may have on your website. I will submit a new ticket!

    Best Regards,
