• Hi, Via cpanel and Fantastico I tried to install a blog using “blog”as my directory.
As I am a newbie creating a blog I was not happy with the result of this first try and decided to remove it, thinking I removed everything.
When I tried a second time, again using “blog” as my directory I got the message that installing was not possible because I already used “blog” as a directory.
I prefer to use “blog”again, but how should I do that?

Thanks in advance for your help,
    Roy

  • Do you have access to an FTP program? I’d login via FTP and delete the public_html folder (provided there is nothing in it!) and then recreate the folder. Then go to Fantastico and try creating a blog folder again.

My line of thinking is that manually deleting/recreating folders via FTP would be more efficient than through Fantastico.

Fantastico has a storage area where it remembers where all its previous installs were made. If it has a record in that area, regardless of whether that install actually exists or not, it will not allow you to install there.

If you have access to a .fantasticodata folder in your home directory, you may be able to remove the entry for it from Fantastico there. Otherwise you may need to contact your host and have them remove it.
