I have wp-optimize on a website with 11 main pages. I have “preload” turned on every 10 hours.

I then expect that all pages of the website are always in the cache, even if they have not been visited for a long time. Doesn’t the preload option ensure that all pages are always in the cache?

However, when I visit the website and look in the source code for the sentence “Cached by WP-Optimize…” at the bottom of the source code, I always see 3 or 4 pages where this text is not in the source code. So these pages are apparently not cached, despite the preload option?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Right, if you don’t see “Cached by WP-Optimize…” at the bottom, it indicates that you are viewing an uncached page. Ideally, all pages should be preloaded simultaneously if the scheduled preloader is enabled.

    1. Could you clarify what you actually mean by “preload turned on every 10 hours“? Are you saying that your website’s cache lifespan is set to 10 hours, and the preload schedule is configured to “same as cache lifespan“? Please confirm.
    2. Could you provide a link to an example page that isn’t being preloaded? This will allow me to check whether that page is included in your sitemap, as the preloader only works for pages listed in the sitemap.

    Thanks

    Hello Kowsar,

    1. Yes that’s what I mean; my cachespan is set to 10 hours and the preload schedule is set to same as cachelifespan.
    2. At this moment this page seems not be cached:
Nieuws Haus am Einberg – Haus am Einberg

But if you go to view that page, it may well be that the page has been cached. It is illogical and unpredictable at times. But every time I check each page of this website, 1 or 2 pages are not cached, even though those pages are included in the sitemap!

@wp-opti What happens when you manually click on the “Preload” button? Once the preload process finishes, can you confirm whether all pages have been cached or not? Thanks

I first looked in the cache folders on the server: wp-content/cache/wpo-cache.

The page that is not cached is present in the list of cached pages in this server folder! When I open the folder with the page name, the uncached page appears to contain a folder called “embed”, containing 3 index files.

All other pages that are cached do not contain this folder “embed” in the page folder.

When I now click on “Preload” in WordPress plugin settings, I get the well-known message: An unexpected response has been received.

After I clicked preload for the 2nd time, the preload starts.

The “embed” folder has now disappeared from the page folder of the uncached page, and the page is now cached.

It seems that the problem is caused by the created “embed” folder in the page folder?

@wp-opti Depending on the server environment, there are instances where the preload function may initiate after the second click. However, this should not be a significant concern because, in such cases, the preload functionality continues to operate in the background.

As for the “embed” folder situation, it does appear to be somewhat unusual and might be related to a plugin conflict. The only way to confirm is by conducting a plugin conflict test. In other words, try disabling all plugins except WP-Optimize and check if this issue gets resolved. If it does, then gradually re-enable each plugin one at a time to identify which one is causing the problem. It’s advisable to carry out this test on a staging site or ensure you have a complete backup of your website before proceeding.

Thanks for your help, but I still don’t have an answer to my original question: why aren’t all pages cached?

I just checked my website and 5 out of 12 pages are now not cached by wp-optime! These 5 pages are in the list of cached pages in the server folders /wp-content/cache/wpo.

So what’s going on with the wp-optime plugin?

The page you mention is showing as cached for me.

The embed pages you mention. I have been going through your sitemap page by page and I notice, for example this page is cached https://www.einberg.nl/contact-vakantiehuis-sauerland/

    https://snipboard.io/JpxVql.jpg

the bit that is not cached is the embed:

    https://snipboard.io/D9QOML.jpg

The embed is a Google map external to your site which is why the embed itself is not cached (it does not exist on your server)

    The pages itself is cached.

I suspect the other pages you mention have exactly the same issue.

No, the pages that are not cached do not have the same issue (with embed Google Maps)! In fact, the contact page with Google maps is one of the only pages thtat is cached everytime I check the source code.

I just visited einberg.nl and 5 of 12 pages are not cached by wp-optimize (no Cached by… text in source code).

Again, looking at my server maps and folders, these pages are in the list of cached pages (wp-content/cache/wpo).

After I visit a not cached page, close my browser (clear browser cache) and re-open the page, then it is cached (timestamp 1 minute before).

So something is wrong with the preload function of wp-optimize. It is creating a list on my server (wp-content/cache/wpo) with all pages, but then not all those pages are cached in the browser.

If you check your headers in the Network tab, what do they say?

Can you provide a list of all uncached pages so I can take a look?

I have decided to continue using wp-rocket for the time being. Thanks for all the help so far!
