Not Allowing Credit Card without PayPal Account

  • We have tested this ourselves with 25 and 50 buttons.
    Attempting to pay without a PayPal account.
    Once the CC info is entered you must click the button
    to create a PayPal account in order to process the
    payment. Then we get all of the spam they send about
    PayPal. This is not the experience we want for those
    that just want to use a credit card.

  • The problem is not with the Paypal plugin, but Paypal itself (you would have the same issue if you created this type of subscription button directly in Paypal itself).

    The issue is really you are forcing the donor to an annual (or other period) subscription (donation). This type of repeat action does require the donor to create a Paypal account, as the Paypal database manages the subscription, and it can’t manage the next contribution date or charge the donor without that data on file.

    If you were just collecting one time donations, the ability to pay with a credit card using Paypal as the credit card processor does not require the donor to have a Paypal account.
