I have china selected but my stats show that I continue to get visitors from there who then keep sending spam.

I have no page redirect selected.

Under Frontend I have Block visitors from visiting the frontend of your website: selected.

I have China chosen as the blocked country.

On backend I have blocked every country except Australia.

After a few days I have gone in and chosen every page to be blocked.

Not sure what I am not doing right

    Hi,

This dependps on how your stats work. It can happen that you still see visitors on your statistics but they are in fact blocked.

You can check on the tool tab the ip addresses and see if they are blocked or not.

The stats show when they come and it also matches with the spam they are sending.

It does say that ip’s from china are being blocked but then I still get spam from China that matches with hits from that country at the same time.

I was using a blocked message but as of last night changed to a blank page where the menu does not sshow and it quickly redirects to google and still 3 spam messages today from China

I blocked Hong Kong last night as well and today is the first day without spam so wondering if it is possible that people in China but in Hong Kong may have still had access.

What is happening is that the logging shows China as being blocked but the times that are shown match both my stats and the time that spam is coming in from my contact form.

I have setting to go to a blank page that redirects to the Beijing Police website.

The time without spam was due to contact form7 stopped working altogether but as soon as I changed to a new contact form plugin the spam started again within minutes.

Would be great if there was a solution or just something I am missing in settings.

    Thanks for your time.

Not sure if this sheds any light on things but I went to this site https://www.blockedinchina.net/ and when I typed in chrisfawkes.com it said that my site could be seen on all servers yet when I typed in the individual page url’s it appears the site could not be seen.

I am using a one page scrollable theme. Is that what could be causing things to not work as they should?

The blockedinchina website does not actually hit your website. I am not sure but I think it checks against a list of banned sites from China.

I even got a All servers where able to reach your server from a non-existing url.

Do you have access to your raw HTTP logs?

I have the same problem !

This is my site https://www.pdpboxdoccia.com .

I blocked access from China , but my counter tells me access from China at least a couple of days a week .

How can I permanently block access from China ?

    From the FAQ:

How come that I still see visitors from countries that I blocked in Statpress or other statistics software?
It’s true that you might see hits from countries that you have blocked in your statistics software. That is the way it works, certain plugins may be run before iQ Block Country is run so it may log visitors to pages.

This however does not mean this plugin does not work, it just means somebody tried to access a certain page or pages and that that fact is logged.

If you are worried this plugin does not work you could try to block your own country or your own ip address and afterwards visit your frontend website and see if it actually works. Also if you have access to the logfiles of the webserver that hosts your website you can see that these visitors are actually denied with a HTTP error 403.

    Perhaps this applies?
