• Hello,

Been an avid user of AIOSEO for many years, not the Pro version though, at least not yet. Rather keep my business in the USA with a someone who served, rather than getting on board with another SEO plugin. Anyway, ran into a major issue after upgrading to WP4.0. Almost entire site went down returning 500 errors. Site was down for 2 hours as we tried to diagnose & restore from a backup.

We determined that the site was fully functional on 4.0 if AIOSEO was deactivated. However, after restoring to 3.9 & a time prior to any plugin backups from today, then updating to 4.0 again, we learned that AIOSEO lasts version, before the newest update, also wasn’t compatible with 4.0, at least not on our site.

Not sure what’s the cause, just that when deactivating AIOSEO, the site was fine. So, we restored again to WP3.9 & haven’t updated AIOSEO to 2.2.3.1.

    Plugins running:

Akismet, Really Simply Facebook Twitter Share Buttons, Quickcache, Captcha, Comment Notifier, Fast and Secure Contact, Google XML Sitemaps, WPML, WPTouch Pro, Vaultpress plus a couple created by my dev pertaining to site functionality. I also contacted you on your site, where you can see the site to which I am referring. Also left a phone number there as well. This is a big deal, obviously, as your plugin is the most important one & we need to update WordPress.

Thanks so much, I will check back in the AM.

I can assure you that All in One SEO Pack is completely compatible with WordPress version 4.0. We run All in One SEO Pack on WordPress 4.0 on many sites both for ourselves and for customers. We have had no other reports of any other users having issues running any version of All in One SEO Pack on WordPress 4.0. It sounds like this issue is confined to just your server and a 500 Internal Server Error is a server issue. You should get your hosting company to check the server error logs because this is the only way you’ll find out what’s causing the 500 errors.

    Hello,

We have an update, albeit our findings remain uncertain.

So, 2.2.3.1 is in fact now running successfully with WP 4.0 on our site. My apologies for the post title! That said, we spent quite a bit of time testing & two of us saw WP 4.0 return 500 errors when AIOSEO was active & no errors when inactive. However, the primary issue turned out to be a Thesis issue! Once we applied the fix, all was well! That doesn’t explain however how we were able to upgrade to WP 4.0 w/o the Thesis fix when AIOSEO was disabled, but I digress, as it’s not worth trying to figure it out at this point. Perhaps some combination of plugins along with the WP update, who knows…

Anyway, thanks for the prompt reply here from AIO! Your service is another reason we have been faithful users! Wish I could alter my post title a bit & at least make my statement a question!

    Hi Jackinbox,

Not a problem. I can tell you we’ve seen multiple issues with sites becoming unresponsive after updating to WordPress 4.0 and I’ve seen numerous forum posts and at least one Trac ticket open about this. None are related to All in One SEO Pack and we’re not aware of any incompatibilities between All in One SEO Pack and WordPress 4.0.

We’ve been running All in One SEO Pack on WordPress 4.0 since the first Beta release came out and we always test against the bleeding edge release of WordPress to ensure our plugin is fully compatible before WordPress releases a new version.

    Hi

I am having compatibility issues with AIO on my WP 4.0 sites as well. I have narrowed the issue down to the plugin.

When plugin is activated, I am unable to upload media. “Add Media” button doesn’t work at all. When I deactivate the plugin, button works.

    Please help!!!

    Thanks

    Hi Makonjero,

There are no compatibility issues with All in One SEO Pack and WordPress 4.0. Many people are running the plugin on WordPress 4.0 without any issue and we cannot replicate the issue you are reporting. I believe the issue you have is more likely a JavaScript or AJAX issue so check your browser error console for the reason.

    Hi

I have read forums, suggests updating AIO to latest version could be problem.

How is best way to go about this? Automatic update is not working. Can I download latest version from site and overwrite in FTP? Don’t want to lose tags, settings etc.

    Thanks for the help,

There are no reported problems with updating All in One SEO Pack to the latest version. However, if you want to do it manually then download the plugin, unzip it and upload it to your server via FTP. You will not lose your settings.
