I am using the Pop Up Maker with an Instagram embed, the page loads but when the pop up is triggered it doesn’t show and the page is unable to scroll. I noticed this when my theme developer has implemented the latest jQuery techniques and optimizations to make the website run faster.

I deactivated the jQuery feature and the site worked and the the pop up worked as desired. However I would like to have this jQuery running as it’s sped up my site quite dramatically.

Will Pop Up Maker be looking at becoming compatible with the latest jQuery?.

    Cheers
    Julian

    Hey @newcastlecreativeco

    Thank you for reaching out!

Popup Maker is built to use the WordPress jQuery v1.12.4 and using a different jQuery version can cause to break the functions of your website.

I have also forwarded this to our lead developer and we will let you know as soon as we get a piece of new information.

    We appreciate your patience.

@newcastlecreativeco – TBH we have tested it with jQuery v3+ and it worked fine as long as you had the jQuery migrate loaded for v3 as well. That would not just be a requirement for backward compatibility with our plugin but the entire WP plugin ecosystem. WooCommerce all the way to Yoast expect the version of jQuery that came with WP.

In general we won’t be moving away from what WP offers for the simple fact that we need to support 99.999% of the users who just want it to work. Until WP core supports jQuery v3 we can’t rewrite our code base for a few outlier sites here and there if I’m being honest.

That said WP is already moving towards the newer versions of jQuery, but they are doing it in steps that would include using jQuery migrate, so there wouldn’t be issues, we will of course be following suite along the way.

    Hope that helps.
