I posted this to the main support page and they directed me here, saying it’s likely a JetPack issue. It probably is, but I actually think it’s Facebook changing things again and wonder if JetPack maybe needs to write a new code or something, as Facebook are rolling out new pages. (We used to be able to connect/publicise to our profile page and when that was taken off us we had to connect/publicise to our pages instead.) Of course, if FB has pulled the plug and doesn’t want to play any more, then I don’t suppose there’s anything JetPack can do about it. Just in case they can, though, or they may already be on it, I’m posting this here in case anyone else has noticed the same issue.

My blog posts are no longer connecting to Facebook. Has there been a change this week?

Yesterday (Thursday) I saw this message: “Before you hit Publish, please refresh the following connection(s) to make sure we can publicise your post: Refresh connection with Facebook”

So I followed the link, tried to reconnect, and got this message: “App not set up
This app is still in development mode, and you don’t have access to it. Switch to a registered test user or ask an app admin for permissions.”

It went ahead anyway, saying, “Connecting Facebook
Is this the account you’d like to connect? All your new blog posts will be automatically shared to this account. You’ll be able to change this option in the editor sidebar when you’re writing a post.”

I pressed CONNECT, and then I got this message: “! An error occurred while connecting the account.”

I went to the sharing page to see this: “We’ve made some updates to Publicise. Please visit the WordPress.com sharing page to manage your Publicise connections or use the button below.”

The link doesn’t work, so I used the button instead. And went through the exact same loop.

I’m using JetPack but don’t remember there being an update recently.

    Is there a known issue?

    Cheers for any help.

EDIT: I can see now from other threads that this issue is now resolved and I can confirm that the publicize function on create a new post is indeed back but, unlike others, all of my previous page posts are still there. However, this morning’s blog post did not auto-post to Facebook. I do have the Missed Schedule Post Publisher plugin, so perhaps that needs updating too, but I wonder if this should be something that works with JetPack too.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hello @dianewordsworth,

Thanks for adding the update/edit in your main message. I’ll take it from there:

However, this morning’s blog post did not auto-post to Facebook. I do have the Missed Schedule Post Publisher plugin, so perhaps that needs updating too, but I wonder if this should be something that works with JetPack too.

I took a look at your Publicize status via our debugger tool, and it looks like the social media connections have been corrupted. We want to recycle the connections by re-adding them and giving the system a fresh start.
You can reconnect to your social media accounts from this page:

More info can be found here: https://jetpack.com/support/publicize/publicize-connecting-to-social-networks/

Hope that’s all clear! Let me know how it goes and if you get stuck at any step, just let us know and we’ll be glad to help ??

    Thank you, Stef (a11n) @erania-pinnera

I reconnected FB and got: “The Facebook account was successfully connected.” I also disconnected from and reconnected to Twitter and LinkedIn, just to be sure. All seems to be working. I’ll know next time I try to schedule a post. ??
