Not displaying more than 1 column using short code (at all)

    First off, thanks for this plug-in, it is exactly the type of solution I was looking for, so I am hoping to get to the bottom of why this isn’t working correctly for me.

    Unfortunately, I have a situation on our site where after setting up a page and inserting the proper short code to display 4 columns, I am only getting a single column. I have tried changing the number of columns and I can see the relative width change on the sponsor logo. I have edited the logos in Photoshop to be the exact same size and shape (600×600 pixels) since I want everything to be very uniform, I am not displaying any Bio info, and titles are relatively short and uniform (since that was apparently an issue in a previous issue related to columns not working because of title and bio info length differences). I have tried all documented possibilities for sort order, and I know that things are mostly working (other than the column issue) since I currently have things set up to display in a random order, and the one that shows will change on page reload. Heck I have gone so far as to completely uninstall the plugin and reinstalling it after making sure that everything was updated and supposedly compatible.

    I have the following short code in place:

    Robotics Benefactor ($5,000 and above)

    [sponsor_level category=”robotics-benefactor” orderby=”rand” columns=”4″ image=”yes” title=”yes” link=”yes” bio=”no” show=“999999”]

    Robotics Champion -Platinum ($2500-$4,999 )

    [sponsor_level category=”robotics-champion-platinum” orderby=”rand” columns=”4″ image=”yes” title=”yes” link=”yes” bio=”no” show=“999999”]

    Currently entering in sponsor info into the DB, so I have 3 ‘Benefactor’ level sponsors to work with, and one in the ‘Champion’ level, and the two sort properly on the page, but I am only ever getting one ‘benefactor’ displayed that will change on reload since it is set to ‘orderby=rand’

    I am hesitant to go through the work of adding all our sponsors into the system until I know I can get this working properly, so any help on this issue is greatly appreciated.

    Well, having not heard anything back on this issue of only displaying one column using the short code, and not finding anything myself, I have unfortunately had to explore other plugins that serve a similar function as this one even though they are lacking a few key things I really like about this plugin (especially when it comes to Widgets, and displaying the title or name of the sponsor in addition to the logo image).

    If you can get around to checking on this issue and what some possible solutions might be, I might be willing to switch back from the other one if I can get this to work properly, so I will leave this open for now and wait to hear any updates on it.

    I’m having the same problem. This is the second plugin I’ve used from Cr3ativ that hasnt worked the way it says its meant to.

    HI @mdobosen and I apologize for the delay,

    I’ll have a look at trying to recreate this issue for you to see what’s happening, however, if I’m unable to recreate then I can only assume another plugin conflict or possible theme conflict as I only test with my own plugins and a WP default theme.

    Thanks for posting examples of how your using it (this makes it way easier for testing) and I’ll get back with you shortly.

    I only get on here when I can and lately that has only been about once a month, but I am working on closing some projects out so I wouldn’t expect you to wait that long (even if you are not still using it now)

    Ahh, I found it ??

    Because you copied/pasted the shortcode it’s displaying the quotes as ‘escaped’ text.

    Look at the quotes surrounding the 9999, you can just make out they are a little different, so it’s not completing the shortcode.

    If you use the acutal quote marks (instead of copy/pasting) you will see everything fall into place in the 4-column view (I just tested this).

    It’s like that on ‘Other Notes’ which is why you are seeing that, I’m going to have to update that tab in the plugin page so this won’t happen again.

    Good catch!

    Yes, I totally see what you are saying about the escaped text and the difference in the quotes, and now I am kicking myself for not catching that on my own.

    I will have to revisit your plugin now with this bit of info to see if that is what the issue is since as I said before, several features of your plug in are favorable for our situation if I can get it to work properly.

    I was able to get a work around in place with a different plug in on the current site, but when it comes time to update things in the not so distant future I might have another go with your plugin.

    glad to get to the bottom of this since I was pretty sure I was missing something, but my eyes didn’t catch the difference in the characters since I was copy and pasting the examples you provided and just updating them for our situation/ application.

    heheh ?? No worries, I didn’t catch it right away myself and with my own text on the Other Notes tab is what was causing the issue gave myself a huge face palm! ??

    Very sorry for the trouble!! Got it on the list today to update the Other Notes tab to correct this issue!
