• No instructions included for getting the application id from Facebook. Without that key piece of information, this plugin appears to be useless. I’m not a programmer, but I am far from being computer illiterate. I don’t have the time to spend a week deciphering Facebook’s developer interface. So any plugin whose first instruction is “Get your app id from Facebook” without saying how to do that is useless to me. I just want a plugin that will put my new posts on my Facebook fan page and maybe give my readers a like button. It seems like it would be easier to do this manually than to use this app. And Facebook’s app was even worse!

I set this functionality up for my Twitter account using WP to Twitter, and it worked great. The plugin creator included easy, step-by-step instructions for getting the ids and keys from Twitter, and it was up and working in minutes.

No instructions included for getting the application id from Facebook.

When installing the plugin, there is a set of instructions on the very first setup screen which guide you through going to the Facebook developer’s page and creating an App, which is where you will get the Application ID.

Additionally, these instructions (which disappear only once you have put in the Application ID and Secret) are reproduced in the “Help” dropdown on the SFC Settings screen. You can find the Help dropdown in the upper right hand corner of the screen.

These are those instructions, as shown in the plugin. I’m not sure how they could be much clearer. The links are easy to follow.

To connect your site to Facebook, you will need a Facebook Application.
If you have already created one, please insert your Application Secret and Application ID below.

    Can’t find your key?
    – Get a list of your applications from here: Facebook Application List
    – Select the application you want, then copy and paste the Application Secret and Application ID from there.

Haven’t created an application yet? Don’t worry, it’s easy!
    – Go to this link to create your application: Facebook Application Setup
    – After creating the application, put https://example.com in as the Site URL in the Website section. (Note, example.com in the plugin is replaced with your actual site URL)
    – You can get the API information from the application on the
    Facebook Application List page.
    – Select the application you created, then copy and paste the Application Secret and Application ID from there.
