We started getting lots of notifications this morning for scan errors on multiple site and multiple hosting environments:

    • Error Message: Not Found
    • Error Code: not_found

  • Yes, similarly to caordawebsol I’m seeing how frequently SolSec is running Site Scanner; in one example, over the past few weeks all the errors are rate_limit_exceeded (I’m thinking this is a separate matter from this thread’s ‘not found’ error), intermixed with ‘site clean’ results. If this is normal, I’d only wonder how much overhead the scans incur.

Again, this seems to happen independently of the ‘not found’ errors on this an other websites I administer, though most sites are exhibiting a mix of these errors. Perhaps both are essentially unactionable and inconsequential (save for the transients solution, which I’m trying to comprehend and test).

Thank you for your ongoing attention to this.

Hi @caordawebsol @dwegowy, thanks for the update!

The “rate_limit_exceeded” error is indeed separate from the “not_found” error. It can happen intermittently but should go away after waiting for the cooldown time.

This is because the Solid Security Basic’s Site Scanner has a 10-minute rate limit, which is tied to your server’s IP address. While I can’t say how much overhead the scans incur, if you have plenty of sites on the same server, you may get this error more often. In this case, you may consider increasing server resources or using the pro version which does not have a rate limit.

I hope this information is helpful!
