Not Found when clicking a link? (404?)

    I just updated to 3.8 and have had some serious issues. After following a series of recomendations through the forum I am having the same issues.

    There are three specific areas that do not work with the updated/upgraded installation. Both exist when clicking links from within the Dashboard/Admin panel.
    1. When I click on the “Update” link under the dashboard header
    2. When I click the “Themes” link under the appearance header
    3. When I click “Installed Plugins” under the plugins header

    In all three of these cases I end up on a default “Not Found” page.

    As a note, when I search for new plugins using the search box under the “add new” page I also end up on the “Not Found” page.

    Is anyone else having these issues, and more importantly has anyone found a fix? I have disabled all plugins and themes on my site, going so far as removing all of my old themes and plugins from the folders.

  • It sounds like you may be missing some core files. Try replacing the files with a new copy. Be sure to back up your existing content before doing so to make sure nothing goes wrong in the process.

    Thats part of whats frustrating me, I did this. So far I have:

    Disabled all plugins via phpmysqladmin
    Reenabled all plugins then disabled all plugins by renaming the plugin folder
    Reenabled all plugins and restored from my backup folder
    Installed a fresh 3.8 installation in another folder and moved that folder over to the primary blog location
    Restored from my backup folder and manually installed RC2 to update

    I still run into the same issues.

    After lots of convoluted troubleshooting this ended up being much easier than expected. I had to move to php 5.4 and everything started working.
