  • Uh what?

    Where is it not free?

I’ve been using the plugin for half a year now and it IS free.

Where would you have to enter your credit card?

When I went in to the set up – To get the Access KEY ID and the Secret Access Key.

To retrieve your AWS account security credentials:
Sign in your AWS account at AWS Security Credentials Console. Use the same email address and password.
A pop-up message appears. Click Continue to Security Credentials.
Click Access Keys (Access Key ID and Secret Key).
Click Create New Access Key, and then click Show Access Key or Download Key File to retrieve the credentials.
Save the access key information in a safe location. You will use these credentials to make calls to the Product Advertising API.

The first time I signed in it asked me for my credit card in case I went beyond the free tier on Amazon Web Services.

“in case you went beyond the free tier of Amazon Web Services”.

So, you’re giving a 1-star rating to the plugin, because you *might* be charged for using a feature of the Amazon Web Services, which is not included in the set of free features?

    Seriously?

What has the one thing to do with the other?

You raise claim to get the plugin for free and then, in total disregard of its actual functionality, you rate it with one star because of an unrelated, potential charge for a service you don’t use, anyway?

That’s like leaving a 1-star review for a hotel that gives you a room for free because they offer you an optional trip to go to Disneyland.

Yes, 1 STAR – Great Idea – Hard to implement – Old Links
Hard to use when you need to enter a credit card to set it up. It should state in the plugin description that you need to submit a credit card even to use the free features.

Could the plugin make linking easier? – maybe but cannot test with out credit card.

My review is to let people know that to get access they need to submit credit info.

If there is a work around I have not found it and the support page for the plugin has a 404 error – not found.

I have been an Amazon Associate for years and if this plugin had an easy way to connect with my account without all the secret code hoopla I may have rated it higher.

I also find that links in the settings regarding the AWS Account Key are obsolete as of since April 21, 2014. As this is still titled as a Beta version, maybe the plugin needs a update to make it easier to set up and use.

    So yes, 1 star

I have installed this plugin on about 10 websites. It is not perfect but is 100% free.
It does not require credit card details to get access. The installation is straightforward and needs the standard Amazon API keys and secret keys which are free and easy to get.
The above review is misleading and inaccurate.

    @ambv12 Thank you! (Y) ??

No it’s not free ! only one year for free API. We must pay after.
Very bad I’a m agree with Dollycas

    Hi, @dollycas, @zepolo,

The credit card requirement was for registering an AWS account. As of September 2017, this requirement of registering an AWS account to get access to the Amazon Product Advertising API has been removed. May we request you to please revisit the instructions and obtain a fresh API-key & secret from the Associates Central portal for your country. This does not require a credit card any longer.

Please let us know if you face any further issues.
