    Hello,
    1) My problem is that I don’t get email notifications from WooCommerce for new orders paid with PayPal.
However, I do get email notifications from PayPal for succeeded payments.

    2) My other problem is that when I go to my website admin, after receiving a payment, I find the order status set to “canceled” and I have to set it to “pending” manually.

Indeed, it seems like I encounter successful PayPal payments that do not accurately change the order status because I am still using the now deprecated and unsupported PayPal Standard payment gateway.

Therefore, as said in the WooCommerce’s docs: https://woocommerce.com/document/paypal-standard/#debugging-ipn-issues, I did as follows:

I went to WooCommerce > Settings > Products > Inventory and set the “Hold Stock (minutes)” option to nothing (l left the?field empty).

Is my approach correct? Will it fix this bug?

Or should I use another PayPal payment gateway, since the PayPal Standard payment gateway is now deprecated and unsupported?

  • Hey there, @com4muz! Thanks for contacting us. I’m happy to help you.

We strongly encourage everyone using PayPal Standard to use the recommended?PayPal Payments?extension instead, which is our full-stack solution (credit card processing, PayPal checkout, subscriptions, pay later options, etc).

I went to WooCommerce > Settings > Products > Inventory and set the “Hold Stock (minutes)” option to nothing (l left the?field empty). Is my approach correct? Will it fix this bug?

The best way to confirm is to run a test order to see if the issue persists.

Please let us know how it goes.

Having said that, we still recommend using PayPal Payments instead as support for PayPal Standard is very limited and the feature is deprecated. ??

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Have a wonderful day!
