Not going to root directory when logging in

When I log into the system it automatically takes me to the last folder I uploaded a file to. The same happens when refreshing, no matter what folder I am in when I refresh it takes me back to the folder that I last uploaded a file in. Is there a way to fix this? I would like it so when I log it it takes me to the root folder always and when refreshing it refreshes the current folder I am in and does not take me to a different folder.
