    Hi Henning,

    Sorry for my late response.

I’ve just checked, and you’re right, the posters aren’t being shown. As you probably already know, IMDb Connector is using the free but unofficial API provided by omdbapi.com. By using their API query with the IMDb IDs of your movies, you can see that there’s also no poster shown. This is the request you can enter as URL:

    https://omdbapi.com/?i=tt0083438

I can only speculate why it doesn’t include the poster. Maybe the movie is too old (1976), and omdbapi.com only stores poster files after a certain date.

However, the developer is working on a new API exclusively for IMDb posters. Check out his website on the top right corner. It even lets you define the dimensions of the image.

Unfortunately, the API is still in a beta phase and requires an API key which one can only obtain by donating. Try sending him an e-mail and ask if the new API works and if yes, consider donating. omdbapi.com is really doing a great job already.

    Hi Kolja,

thanks for getting back and shedding some light on how the posters are being generated / grabbed.

However, the developer is working on a new API exclusively for IMDb posters. Check out his website on the top right corner. It even lets you define the dimensions of the image.

I’ll gladly support the development of the API and also donate for the work that has already been done but my question would be if – once the API has been released – you’d be willing to work that into the existing plugin? Will I be able to use the new poster API with IMDb connector? Or will it simply replace the old API without any noticeable changes?

    Thanks & regards!

    Hi Henning,

Implementing this new API depends on whether the developer chooses to give it out for free or not. Since it only affects a very small number of posters I guess, maybe we should wait a bit and see how things turn out with the new API, maybe it’ll become free so I can implement it.

    Cheers,

    Kolja
