• WordPress forced their hot garbage Gutenberg editor on all their users without the option of trying and choosing it first. It’s trash. Gutenberg is not intuitive at all, and even after you master all the block functions it still doubles the work necessary to create a post. Not recommended to anyone.

While I hate Gutenberg as much as you do: It is simply not true that we couldn’t try Gutenberg before WP5. It has been available as a plugin for more than a year. That’s pretty ok. Additionally, the dev team provide a plugin for disabling Gutenberg. Pretty ok, too. Having said that, I don’t like Gutenberg, and I don’t want it in the core.

Perhaps you misunderstood my easy-to-understand message. WordPress added the Gutenberg editor with their 5.0 update. Since we did not have the option to disable it or try it before enabling, it was forced on us.

As a developer I have known Gutenberg for at least a year. I had prepared 100+ sites weeks before the 5 update. So, all sites were running fine with WP 5 and Gutenberg deactivated. However, you are right if you talk about the average non-tech-savvy user. Many had no idea what was going on. On the other hand, somebody who can’t afford or does not want to hire a professional should at least gather some information about a major update.
